Christians . . .

We are Christians Who hold to the one true catholic and apostolic Faith, as confessed in the Apostles', Nicene and Athanasian Creeds. We retain the historic liturgies of the Western church, and offer nothing to the world but the Gospel purely preached and the Sacraments administered according to Christ's institution.

I. We believe that we are sinners.

II. We believe that God - Father, Son and Holy Spirit - has done all that is necessary for our salvation.

Good Shepherd is a small congregation of Christians located in northwest Rankin County, Mississippi, in the Reservior area. We are not Roman Catholic, but we happily remain in the liturgical tradition of the Western Church. We are not Eastern Orthodox, but the Faith we confess is the very same which was delivered to the Holy Apostles by Our Lord and faithfully transmitted by the Church through the ages. We are not Protestant, since we do not exist in protest but in PROMOTION of the Gospel in its purity and the Holy Sacraments or Mysteries faithfully admininstered. We are Lutherans, and our only claim to priority is the doctrine of Christ. We do not boast in having been around longer than others, since antiquity is no guard against error. In fact, as Cyprian of Carthage said, custom without truth is simply the antiquity of error. Our only claim to priority is that we continue to hold fast to the very doctrine of Christ, contained in the Holy Scriptures and confessed in His One holy catholic and apostolic Church.

"But if there be among us, most beloved brother, the fear of God, if the maintenance of the faith prevail, if we keep the precepts of Christ, if we guard the incorrupt and inviolate sanctity of His spouse, if the words of the Lord abide in our thoughts and hearts, when he says, 'Thinkest thou, when the Son of man cometh, shall He find faith on the earth'(Luke 18:8) then, because we are God's faithful soldiers, who war for the faith and sincere religion of God, let us keep the camp entrusted to us by God with faithful valour. Nor ought custom, which had crept in among some, to prevent the truth from prevailing and conquering; for custom without truth is the antiquity of error. On which account, let us forsake the error and follow the truth. . ."

(Cyprian of Carthage, The 82 Epistles of Cyrprian to Pompey, Against the Epistle of Stephen about the Baptism of Heretics, para. 9)

Most of our members live in the area of the Ross Barnet Reservoir, but some come from Madison, Ridgeland, Flowood, Brandon and Pearl. Anyone is welcome to visit us, as the Gospel is for all people. Some of our members were raised Lutheran, but many have converted, after hearing the precious and pure Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus.

Within the past several years, Good Shepherd has undertaken the production of DVDs for use in congregational outreach. We call the effort Vox Visuals. "Vox" means voice, and "visuals" refers to the fact that we are producing high-definition DVDs for use by congregations who want to reach people with the Gospel. This effort of ours - to extend the Voice of the Shepherd through sight and sound - has now reached Christians in several countries and two continents.
